Fabric Flower Mini-quilt Project with Allie Aller

Make-it-yourself project kit includes most supplies and instructions booklet, and recorded Zoom Q&A

This year we’re partnering with artist Allie Aller and one of her favorite NYC garment district shops, M&S Schmalberg, to offer a special project kit that celebrates New York City’s textile heritage. M&S is a family-owned company that has been making custom fabric flowers for over 100 years, and Allie has worked with them on so many projects, they now feel like family to her!

This charming kit, designed by Allie as a special fundraiser just for Quilters Take a Moment, includes all the flowers you need to create an 11″ x 8.5″ mini quilt featuring a floral wreath surrounding an appliqued “Thank You” center, as well as background sky fabric is provided by our generous sponsor Stacy Michell of Shades Textiles , batting provided by Mountain Mist and fusible appliqué web provided by MistyFuse.

Read more about the kit here.

Designing Meaningful Memory Quilts with Cyndi Zacheis

Workshops sold out – thank you for joining us!

Join quiltmaker, teacher, and lecturer Cyndi Zacheis for a workshop about designing artful and meaningful memory quilts.

All quilters seem to have collections of things – linens, clothes, photographs, UFOs – that were precious to family and friends who are no longer with us. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the basics of designing a memory quilt, including patterns, materials, and techniques. Using my worksheet, we’ll walk through many of the considerations you’ll need to address in your project and we’ll start the design process. Everyone will have an opportunity to share; time will also be spent problem solving and addressing questions.

The Quilt Alliance is the only nonprofit solely dedicated to documenting, preserving and sharing the history of quilts and quiltmakers and QTM is our biggest fundraising event, generously sponsored by industry and foundation support.
