QSOS interview with Allie Aller

We shared this fantastic QSOS interview with Quilt Alliance members, but also wanted to share it with everyone who purchased a kit, so you can learn more about artist and QA board alumni Allie Aller conducted by her friend Michele Muska (also a former board member and friend of the Alliance).

From creating and donating auction quilts to teaching workshops on our behalf to volunteering with great enthusiasm for our events. Allie has given her Time, Talent and Treasure in equal amounts to support QA projects and staff. This year marks a major transition for Allie: she is withdrawing from teaching and will intensify her studio quiltmaking, as well as lean in to her new passion – creating fabric illustrations for her first children’s book (see examples of this work on her Instagram account).

M&S Schmalberg

The flowers for this kit are from M&S Schmalberg, a family-owned factory producing fabric flowers for four generations. They’ve been hand-crafting flowers in the Garment District of NYC since 1916. Check out this video visit from quiltmaker Paula Nadelstern, and the digital tour below to see how they made your flowers!

This project wouldn’t be possible without generous support from our sponsors. Thanks so much to M&S Schmalberg for supplying the flowers, Stacy Michell of Shades Textiles for the background fabric, Mountain Mist for supplying the batting and Mistyfuse® for donating the fusible!
